Confidence

Here are some definitions and thoughts….is trust or confidence an issue for you?
It seems from the reading that self confidence is mostly your own perception. I have to confess, I am having trouble coming up with the relevance for me of confidence. It occurs to me that dependence on a Higher Power certainly requires some measure of confidence or trust and it would be beneficial for me to look at where what I say I believe and what my actions indicate I believe in this realm, might provide a useful exercise.
How about you? Is this an issue? Whom do you trust? self? science? others? Leaders? God?
Confidence…what is it?

Noun:
  1. The feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; firm trust: “we had every confidence in the staff”.
  2. The state of feeling certain about the truth of something.
Synonyms:
trust – faith – reliance – belief – credit – credence

trust

1. reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing; confidence.
2. confident expectation of something; hope.
3. confidence in the certainty of future payment for property or goods received; credit: to sell merchandise on trust.
4. a person on whom or thing on which one relies: God is my trust.
What is confidence? Is it the feeling of being better than others? Is it not being easily influenced by others? Is it not caring about what others think about you? Understanding what is confidence is important because naturally to gain confidence, we must first understand what it is.
According to www.dictionary.com, confidence is ‘the belief in oneself and one’s powers or abilities.’
That is what confidence is, the belief that you are capable of doing something. When you have confidence you believe that you have the ability to perform something successfully.

Let’s go deeper

Description: what is confidenceNow let’s go a little deeper into it. If having confidence means having the belief that you have the capability to succeed at something, what does having belief mean?
Belief is basically a strong feeling of certainty you have about something. So having belief in your ability to succeed means you feel quite certain that you can achieve success.
Let’s put it all together. What is confidence? To have confidence ultimately means that you have a feeling of certainty that you have the ability to succeed and can succeed in what you are attempting. Now note that it states that you ‘have a feeling of certainty’ rather than ‘having certainty’.
The reason I wanted to point this out is for it to be a reminder that there is no mention that having confidence is being absolutely certain of something. There are many people out there that equate having self confidence to having absolute certainty.
Well it’s no wonder why they always claim that they have no confidence, it’s because all the while they have been seeking for absolute certainty which doesn’t really exist.
From this we can understand that confidence is actually all about perception.
Confidence is not based solely on actual facts, rather it is based more on opinion. Some people need more references (i.e. indicators of success) for them to have a feeling of certainty about achieving success, while others may feel certain of success despite having very little, if any references to back them up.
The things that make one person feel confident may not matter at all to another person.
In a nutshell
In a nutshell, the difference between a person who has confidence and a person who doesn’t have confidence may only boil down to their individual perception.
Two people may have the same level of skill, experience, knowledge, ability, training etc but one may feel more confident than the other because she perceives that her current level of ability is sufficient to achieve success while the other person believes it isn’t sufficient.
Both will never know for sure whether their current capabilities are adequate until they actually attempt it for real. So by taking this into account for our daily lives, what you should do is prepare as much as you can, but to a certain extent, never let the perception of your confidence level stop you from attempting anything.

Secrets to Owning Your Own Successful Coach Training Company

I have been in the coaching/ psychology/ life change business for just over 10 years and here are just a few of my “secrets” to owning a successful business that trains and certifies others as coaches:

  1. Think big, think ahead.
  2. Try your best to go the extra mile for every student.
  3. Celebrate all your victories- even the seemingly small ones.
  4. Be true to yourself, but do your best to never say no to a student.
  5. Repackage (change your sales copy and bonuses) if the program is not selling.
  6. Repeat powerful affirmations that support your dreams.
  7. Specialize (choose a coaching niche to train people in.)
  8. Do not be afraid to let potential students know why they should register with you.
  9. Ask for testimonials.
  10. Ask for suggestions for improvement.
  11. Apologize when you make an error then work to correct it.
  12. Charge $200.00 more then you think you should. People constantly under price their programs which results in less registrants.
  13. Email your mentor. She is there to help you.
  14. Let God guide you in all you do. And give the tenth unto Thee.

Sales Tip- Educate Your Potential Client: What Do I Say to Potential Coaching Clients?

No matter what you are selling it is your job to inform your potential clients about your product or services and how it will benefit them. Do not assume they already know.

Take weight loss coaching services as an example.

As a weight loss coach you need to know your value well enough that you are able to correctly inform and educate your potential clients about why coaching is a must if they want to change their life . Not why they should have a coach but why a coach is necessary success element.

Their best thinking got them where they are and it is a fact that desire alone is not enough to make a permanent change in their life.

This is where you come in.You have to have the knowledge of how successful life change occurs. That is what a coach provides.

Inform Your Potential Clients

Let them know that almost every major -major- successful person has a coach.

That coaching studies repeatedly and consistently show that the odds of successful life change are increased dramatically when the person or team has a coach.

Educate your potential client on how you, as a coach, understand the makeup of the human mind and what will stop clients every time from attaining their goals- no matter how bad they desire it. (You learn what these self sabotaging behaviors are through your coaching program.)

Inform your potential clients of this through articles, tele-classes, seminars and casual conversations.

Why They Should Hire You Over Another Coach

They should hire you as a coach over another coach because you are certified in the area of weight loss, have personal experience in that area as well. Through your training your get to choose which areas you want to be certified in, giving you the edge over coaches who are not certified or certified in an area that is too general and common.

This is also where testimonials come in handy.

Sample Conversation

“Why do you need a coach? Have you ever wanted to attain something- weight loss, increased income- and tried but did not really make any permanent progress? Can you think of a goal like that? [Give them a chance to respond.] That is where I come in. I have been trained to understand what will stop people every time when [State their goal here.] and what will get them there faster and easier than you ever thought possible.”
