NEW COACH QUESTION: Do I need to be available 24 hours a day for client emergencies? Is that what a coach does?

Let me tell you right off the bat that you are not an emergency service. That is not what a coach is.

A coach helps people through negative situations that creep up on the way to goal attainment, yes, but we are not a 9-1-1 dispatchers. If your client truly has an emergency they should call 9-1-1.

Then they can leave you a message and you can get back to them when you are awake and able to listen and provide support.

Keep in mind that this is not often even an issue with coaches as almost 100% of clients do not have life or death emergencies that they need to contact you with. Most clients are very self sufficient. If they weren’t, they would seek therapy and not coaching.

You will learn through your lessons how to identify if a client is qualified for coaching.
